Thank God for David James

If there was one thing to take away the England game it was in fact that there wasn’t a calamity when David James got the ball, although John Terry tried to make sure that James’ night didn’t go without incident with a sloppy backpass. Gareth Barry was also a thing of beauty as he defended the England goal with heart and rigour and wasn’t too bad going forward either. Unfortunately we will need more than this to win the world cup.

I often root for England, when not for my own country. But something is wrong with them so far this year. What is the problem? Are they all carrying huge backpacks of expectations around with them? They are so good on paper, I don’t understand why they struggle to score goals.

Unfortunately whenever England are to play we have such high expectations, due to our history in football, it appears that we can only underperform. The problem is that we do have the talent to win, but a dip in form always seems to come at the wrong time and Enland as a country put a massive amount of pressure both from the media and the fans on each individual.
