I am a twenty year old student in my second year at essex uni, and am interested in a career in creative writing and wish to become distinguished in this field. I believe the most important concept in life is to be happy with yourself no matter what anyone else thinks, as you are the cause and everyone else is the effect.

This is my first attempt at a short film. I wanted to have a go at directing before I left university as it often is the best time to try your hand at new skills! I know it might not be to everyone’s tastes and there is room for improvement, but that’s what a first attempt is. Enjoy!

I have very big news for all of you! The fourth episode of my university television programme has finally come out for everyone’s enjoyment. The Sweat Room team have been working hard to create this lightly entertaining and not at all informative show. Enjoy, and don’t forget to give it a like!

Its something we all put off to the next year or the next year, but the truth is most of us never get round to it.
I started my Spanish course last September and haven’t looked back, as far as finding the time it is quite easy for me as I’m doing it as an extra module at my university (I know very impressive)! My reasons for learning it was because I have been to Spain, I have been to South America and, whilst I could start to understand them I never could get the hang of a conversation!
My other motivation was, of course, that I now have a Spanish girlfriend and as this is as good a purpose as any I embarked on my cultural journey. So far we have done a lot of tenses and I now understand about half of what people are talking about. But this is not the point of why I am writing.
I am writing to inspire others to do the same, admittedly I had a ‘chica’ to inspire me in the beginning, but a busy schedule should not stop anyone, there is always time. If you have time for a blog you have time for your new language! Whether it be Spanish or Japanese, if you can speak you can do it, and even if you can’t speak one language I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to learn as well (although I wouldn’t be sure how you would be reading this blog..)!
Happy Learning y buenos suerte!

I know I’m a bit late on this fron but I saw The Artist last night. Maybe it’s just me but i love clever intricacies of plot, especially when it is in view of a bigger picture as it is in the artist: the transition from silent movies to the talkies. Jean Dujardin played George Valentin, the crowd-warmer and his emotions portrayed entirely through his actions are still incrediblymoving.
If you are a fan of clever movies, i hope you’re not too put off by the fact the only voices that can be heard come at the very end. It is worth your time, and deserved every little golden man at the Oscars!

I enjoy being a student who can cook. The traditional student is obviously one that just shoves beans in the microwave but i like to get away from that stereotype. Most recently, and for a while now, I have been making bread. First off I tried my hand at nice and simple plain bread, next stop was rye bread (I tried it once, the first I was happy with, the second taste like halitosis), I am currently on my brown bread phase and am loving it.
I think whilst there hasn’t been much diversity in my baking I have managed to perfect it by slotting into my routine. Wake up, put the dough in the oven, make the dough for the next loaf (takes 5 minutes max.), and then voila my bread is made, perfect for my ham sandwiches.. or when i was feeling good about myself for some homemade burgers.
However much flour you want (be adventurous see where it takes you) – plain loaf obviously plain flour, brown for brown, etc.
Sprinkling of yeast
Sprinkling of sugar (caster will do)
1. Put everything but the water in a bowl and mix together.
2. Add the water and mix until it all comes together into a doughy ball.
3. Put a lid on it and put to one side.
4. The longer you leave it the more mature the taste, I like to leave it for a day or so so its smells nice and sour when i put it n the oven..
5. Put it in a pre-heated oven at 200 degrees centigrade for about 30 minutes.
The point is to have fun in your kitchen and create something simple that is satisfying, go out and experiement with flavours as well by adding stuff to the dough before you put it in the oven. E.g. walnuts/ tomato puree/ herbs…
Tell me what you think/ If you have any ideas for my baker’s hands…
